The Pursuit of Security – Substack

A national security and foreign policy newsletter addressing the challenges facing the United States and its allies through the context of history and geography.

This newsletter is inspired by the unalienable Rights outlined in the Declaration of Independence: “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” Happiness is not guaranteed; instead, it is the pursuit of it. Happiness is difficult to achieve, and even once achieved, it must be nurtured and maintained to keep it. Security is the same. The United States and its allies must continually pursue and maintain national security. Security can never be guaranteed; it is only a sense of feeling more secure.

This newsletter uses history and geography to provide insights into the United States’ ongoing pursuit of security. This newsletter aims to provide commentary that inspires decision-makers and citizens alike to seek a deeper understanding of the security policies of the US and its allies. Then, provide possible ways to address the issues that challenge the US. The US is still the world’s reigning power. It is the only country with significant expeditionary military capabilities, and its national interests can be defined widely. What does the US have to do continually to pursue its security?
